Scaffold For A Temporary Structure (2019)

Made for Recreational Grounds VI , an ongoing series of exhibitions in the Aylesbury Estate in SE London.

The image depicts a computer generated scaffold, the byproduct of the 3D printing process that is usually discarded. This is be supported by a structure made from repurposed plywood that is lashed together, a technique borrowed from theatre that allows stagehands to make backdrops that can be very quickly built, torn down and rebuilt. The balance of the temporary, permanent, supportive and structural elements are intrinsic to the work but also part of what constitutes the site of the proposed work itself. The solidity of the concrete car park belies the threat of destruction that the Aylesbury estate faces.
